Posing photos about animals, especially tiny ones is a difficult job for all photographers because they will spend much time patiently waiting for good chances and taking pictures. A Blue Morpho butterfly sucking nectar from one banana, a seagull flying over the sea at Marazion and a weaver constructing its home are among the world’s best animal pictures.

Lionsrock, a wildlife sanctuary about three hours from Joburg near the town of Bethlehem, is home to mistreated animals, especially big cats rescued from circuses and zoos all over the world. It was founded by Vienna-based organization Four Paws three years ago.

The following photo that captures gorgeous sunrise, wind direction and snow geese was taken by Troy Lim in December 2010 during his first trip to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. He had to spend four days waiting in the cold weather an hour before posing.
